Autobiography of

OLIVER CHRISTIAN BREINHOLT

PREFACE

I, Oliver Christian Breinholt, on this day of February 10th, 1954, am attempting to write a brief sketch of my life.  One reason is because it has been urged by members of my family, and another reason is that I have gained much enjoyment and benefit from reading the many incidents contained in the biography of my father that he left in his own handwriting.  Most of the things that I shall write about will be by memory, and so will be unable to give dates, only as I can secure them from family and church records.

To begin this endeavor, I think it would be proper to give briefly some of the events that my parents encountered in their early life, after which I will give the genealogy of my brothers and sisters.  I will state that my parents were both honest and courageous people, and I will refer to the Breinholt name later.

My father’s name was Jens Christian Laursen Breinholt.  He was the oldest of ten children born to Lars Christensen Jensen Breinholt and Ane Sophia Jensen Nielsen.  My father joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the 12th of January, 1863 in Denmark and emigrated to Utah in 1864.  He drove ox teams across the plains and settled in Sanpete and Sevier Counties.

My mother, Christiana Hansen, was born the 7th of April, 1856 at St. Louis, Missouri.  Her father was Anders Hansen, and her mother Abelone Knudsen.  They had five children, of which two died while migrating to Utah in 1856.  They also settled in Ephraim, Sanpete County, Utah, where my mother grew to womanhood.  They were married 30 March 1874 by Joseph F. Smith in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City.  My parents lived in Sanpete and Sevier Counties where most of their children were born.

I will now give the family group:
